Here’s the FULL COMPILATION of all of our state predictions from 2015! They’re all in descending order – meaning, the pageants held way back in April and May are at the bottom of this post. If you missed a week (or just wanna re-live the craziness of state pageant season), feel free to read through them all!
Believe it or not, the state prediction season for Miss America 2017 begins in APRIL! It’s true – Here’s the full schedule for each state title coming up over the next 3 months…
THAT’S A LOT OF PAGEANTS!!!
And this year, for 2016 – we’re offering our predictions in a different format…
Our predictions are now available within our brand new digital update called, Pageant Junkies Premium. When you subscribe to Pageant Junkies Premium, you get all of our predictions at no charge! If you’d like to see our state predictions for this season – starting in April, just click here…

RESULTS for ARKANSAS and PUERTO RICO
FIFTY-TWO AND WE’RE THROUGH.
Well – We did it Junkies! We survived another round of state pageant season with my nails intact, my wits still about me, and my husband hasn’t yet filed for divorce. It’s a good day indeed.
In fact, if I could bottle up this feeling and pour it all over myself 8 weeks ago, it would’ve been smooth sailing through state season! I imagine it’s something like your favorite fruity drink by the pool, from a fellow named Romeo, on a hot summer’s day – mixed with the genuine sense of accomplishment you feel after completing something everyone else says is a crazy idea in the first place. Why, yes Romeo… I’ll have another 🙂
But before that day-dream gets out of control, it’s time to give you the update on last night’s results – as well as our final cumulative total for year… Here we go…
MISS ARKANSAS – 2/5 – Picked Loren McDaniel
MISS PUERTO RICO – 2/3 – Picked Destiny Velez
Now – regarding Puerto Rico… They only named 2 runners up but I chose 5 girls on my list last week. Therefore, I’m going to give myself a 2 for 3 score (even though both runners up were on my list).
Which means – we finish the final weekend picking both state winners correctly! YAY!
So – when you add these 2 state pageants to the previous 50 states, how did we do??? Here’s the results…
OVERALL = 39 for 52 in picking state winners (75%)
Not too shabby. Our overall total last year was 45/51 (88%), but we forced ourselves to only choose 5 names for each state this year – as opposed to last year when we listed anyone we thought had a chance. *Check out our 2014 results here if you wish… *
Now – In case you’re into the nitty-gritty details of things like this… Here are some of the “highlights” and “lowlights” of our picks this year!
Junkies were PERFECT in 2 states = Georgia and Wyoming
Junkies were SKUNKED in 2 states = Louisiana and Maryland
Junkies were NEARLY PERFECT in 12 states (going 4/5) = TX, OR, AZ, CT, VA, NM, FL, SD, DE, MT, DC and ND (picked the winner in every state except DC and ND)
Junkies were NEARLY SKUNKED in 3 states (going 1/5) = Washington, South Carolina and Kansas (picked WA and SC – missed KS)
And beyond picking winners…
THE GRAND TOTAL including Winners and Runner Ups is… 142 for 263 = That means… on average, our proficiency level is a little less than going 3/5 for every state.
WHEW! Beyond that – I’m not sure I can find any rhyme or reason regarding our ability to pick well verses really stinking it up out there… I’ve tried to determine if we’re better at picking smaller pageants verses larger pageants… Or pageants we’re seen in person verses those we haven’t… or traditional “pageant powerhouse” states verses non-sash states… Perhaps there is a pattern – but if there is – I haven’t found it yet. Feel free to let me know if/when you do 🙂
And in the meantime… WE’RE NOT DONE PREDICTING!!!
Nope! As a matter of fact, our predictions are simply on pause for now…
At the end of the month, we’ll be predicting Prelim Winners for the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition once again! Better yet – JUNKIES WILL BE IN ORLANDO to watch this year’s pageant and help celebrate 10 years of MAOTeen!!!
Will you be there too???! If so, we’d LOVE to meet you in person – If you see us, feel free to stop and say hello! One of the best parts of being a Junkie is meeting people from across the Nation who share our passion for pageantry. It would be our pleasure to meet as many of you as possible 🙂
Until next week – THANKS JUNKIES! Even though I’m still basking in the fabulousness of state pageant season being complete, it doesn’t mean the pageant commentary ends… Why?
Because I’m a Pageant Junkie who’s Hopelessly Addicted to the Miss America program… With, or without my Romeo 🙂

WHOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! HELLO JUNKIE NATION!!!
Please forgive my excitement… But, today is the first day this year where I CAN SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!!! LOL! State pageant season is almost complete, which means it’s almost time to breathe like a normal human being and I can leave the house on a Saturday night! 🙂
I admit, for the last 6 weeks, it’s been pretty crazy in the Junkie Household – When we’re not reporting the results from each weekend’s pageant on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we’re researching the contestants competing in the upcoming state pageants. Add in prelims, podcasts, prediction posts and other pageant poppycock during the week and you’ve got Pageant Junkies running amuck. Thank God, we’re almost done!
So – it is with GREAT ENTHUSIASM that we offer you the latest results from the four state pageants which took place this week! Here they are:
MISS WEST VIRGINIA – 2/5 – Picked Chelsea Malone
MISS WASHINGTON – 1/5 – Picked Lizzi Jackson
MISS KENTUCKY – 3/5 – Missed Clark Davis
MISS TEXAS – 4/5 – Picked Shannon Sanderford
Junkies go ¾ this weekend – Which makes us 37 for 50 overall – and maintains our standard of 74% accuracy. Big Junkie Congrats to each of this weekend’s state winners! Our favorite “fun fact” this week belongs to the Miss Washington Pageant… All 5 ladies who finished in the Top 5, had NEVER finished in the Top 5 before! Talk about breaking through!!! Congrats to each of you for your incredible performance last week!
But just because Junkies can “see the light” – It doesn’t mean we’re done yet! The two final state pageants are taking place this weekend – Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Arkansas!
As you may know (because I’ve blogged repeatedly about it), Miss PR has never been an easy state to predict. Why? Well, it’s mainly because I’m still kicking myself for not taking that internship to Mexico while in college a thousand years ago! Had I given up my winter break, my ability to read, write and communicate in Spanish would be greatly improved and I might actually be able to learn a thing or two about each contestant when googling! However, I will admit Facebook’s new translator feature is a GODSEND – I may just survive after all!
So – HERE WE GO – These are the final two state predictions we’ll be offering for 2015!!!
MISS PUERTO RICO – Stephanie Ramos, Angela Serrano, Paola Sanchez, Keiry Narvaez, Destiny Valez
MISS ARKANSAS (Saved the Best for Last, Right?) – Bailey Moses, Loren McDaniel, Mackenzie Moore, Maggie Benton, Mary Ellen Hunthrop
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!!! Wishing everyone competing this week the Best of Luck – And as we always say, if we say your name, we hope you prove us right… And if we don’t say your name, WE HOPE YOU PROVE US WRONG!!!
GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!

HELLO ONCE AGAIN JUNKIE NATION!!!
Another big weekend of state pageants has come and gone – Which means 11 more ladies have punched their ticket to Miss America 2016! Who are they? And how did Junkies do with our predictions? Let’s find out!
MISS OREGON – 4/5 – Picked Ali Wallace
MISS ARIZONA – 4/5 – Picked Madi Esteves
MISS CONNECTICUT – 4/5 – Picked Colleen Ward
MISS VIRGINIA – 4/5 – Picked Savannah Lane
MISS CALIFORNIA – 3/5 – Picked Bree Morse
MISS NEVADA – 3/5 – Picked Katherine Kelley
MISS MISSISSIPPI – 2/5 – Picked Hannah Roberts
MISS MASSACHUSETTS – 2/5 – Picked Meagan Fuller
MISS SOUTH CAROLINA – 1/5 – Picked Daja Dial
MISS LOUISIANA – 0/5 – Missed April Nelson
MISS MARYLAND – 0/5 – Missed Destiny Clark
As you can see – When it was good, it was good! And when it was bad – IT WAS BAD! LOL!
Junkies get SKUNKED for the first time this season, going 0/5 in both Louisiana and Maryland! But overall, we go 9 for 11, only missing the 2 states where obviously, we must’ve had one too many beverages when doing our research (JUST KIDDING!). Next time, we’ll just throw a dart at the wall and see what happens 🙂
That brings our grand total up to 34 for 46, which works out to 74% in picking winners – Afraid I haven’t put together a spreadsheet yet to determine how we’re doing overall with our Top 5 (meaning – what percentage of the ladies we pick for the Top 5 actually end up in the Top 5)…. And this week, we also had someone ask how we’re doing, in what I like to call “random categories”…I.E. – Of the states we missed, how many times did we at least pick the 1st RU? Or, how many of our picks won prelim awards? Etc, etc… That kind of analysis is gonna take some time – and time is not on our side when we still have four more state pageants to predict this week!
Here’s the remaining schedule for the six state queens yet to be crowned:
MISS WEST VIRGINIA – Wednesday, July 1st
MISS WASHINGTON – Friday, July 3rd
MISS TEXAS – Saturday, July 4th
MISS KENTUCKY – Saturday, July 4th
MISS PUERTO RICO – Saturday, July 11th
MISS ARKANSAS – Saturday, July 11th.
Those 6 pageants will complete the Miss America class of 2016 (No Virgin Islands pageant this year) – And we’ll offer our picks for Miss PR and Miss AR in next week’s post. But between now and then, it’s time to give you our picks for the 4 state pageants taking place this week! HERE WE GO!
MISS WEST VIRGINIA – Bethany Lojewski, Chelsea Malone, Makayla Lewis, Kirstie Kalany, Morgan Breeden
MISS WASHINGTON – Lizzie Jackson, Ashley Cranston, Janae’ Calaway, Samantha Brown, Taryn Smith
MISS TEXAS – Madison Adams, Jessica Barerra, Shannon Sandeford, Jessica Zeller, Madison Fuller
MISS KENTUCKY – Talia Horn, Claire Butler, Madison McGowan, Larkin Walker, Melissa Cox
And there you have it! We’ll update you next Sunday – but between now and then – say it with me – LADIES… If we said your name, we hope you prove us right – And if we don’t say your name, WE HOPE YOU PROVE US WRONG!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

I know MANY of you are very happy to see this change – and I never thought I’d say this, but I’m much happier too! Guess if it ain’t broke, there’s no need to fix it – Thanks for bearing with me as I learned that lesson 🙂
Ok – Junkies have no problem being held accountable – So, this post is strictly a run-down of the results from state pageants taking place June 13th and 14th! Let’s take a look – Here’s how we did!

BIG CONGRATS to all the young women who showed up big time this weekend and PROVED US WRONG!!! You can bet we’ll be paying attention to you in Atlantic City! 🙂
In the meantime, we need to get back to our laptop and study like mad in an attempt to redeem ourselves next weekend! In fact, there are 13 state pageants next weekend – and if we have another similar performance – we’re in trouble!
They don’t call us Junkies for nothing – Time to live up to our name or get out of the Junkie Business!

Whooooooooo Hooooooooooooo!!! Here We Go!!! This is where the rubber meets the road and where our pageant predictions get going into full swing!
Technically, with only six state pageants this weekend, it really is just a warm-up for the KILLER state weekends that are ahead… In fact, for the next 3 weekends in a row, we’ll have 9 state pageants, then 13 state pageants, and then 11 more state pageants, all before the month of July!
But enough talk about potential panic attacks in the Junkie household – Let’s get back to the topic at hand and discuss the results from last week’s competitions!
How did Junkies fare??? Let’s take a look…
MISS HAWAII – 3/5 – Picked Jeanne Kapula
MISS WYOMING – 3/3 – Picked Mikaela Shaw
MISS RHODE ISLAND – 2/5 – Picked Alexandra Curtis
That means Junkies go 3 for 3 this weekend – bringing our total up to 6 for 6 this state pageant season!!!
For the record, we’ve NEVER gone 6 for 6 to start a state pageant season – so that’s pretty stinking amazing! But nobody around here is counting the chickens before they hatch, because as we just said, there are many, MANY more pageants coming at us in a fast and furious way!
And not just any state pageants, there are some HEAVY HITTERS taking place this weekend! So here we go – It’s our state pageant predictions for AK, OK, KS, AL, NE and NY:

GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!

Predictions and Results for VT, ME, NH, HI, WY and RI
Hi Junkies!
This is a back-dated post, offering all of our state predictions for the month of May. We originally came out with each of these state predictions on video – But by popular demand – We’re putting them together in a written format, so they can all be in one spot.
So – Here it is… Starting in order of state pageant date held…
MISS VERMONT – Erin Connor, Nina Merriman, Alana Westcom, Ashley Bordeau
MISS MAINE – Collen Geaumont, Kelsey Earley, MaryBeth Noonan
MISS NEW HAMPSHIRE – Lauren Percy, Holly Blanchard, Michelle Mayer, Kendall Wipff, Jessica Avelar
MISS HAWAII – Jeanne Kapula, Halilani Parish, Alexandra Roth, Napua Salbedo, Adrienne Wilson
MISS WYOMING – Jessica Dyk, Julia Rose, Mikaela Shaw
MISS RHODE ISLAND – Emily Cortez, Gina Coalo, Paige LaValle, Victoria Cuartas, Alexandra Curtis
And Now… Here are the results from each of those state contests!!!
MISS VERMONT – ¾ – Picked Alayna Westcom
MISS MAINE – 2/3 – Picked Kelsey Earley
MISS NEW HAMPSHIRE – 2/5 – Picked Holly Blanchard
MISS HAWAII – 3/5 – Picked Jeanne Kapula
MISS WYOMING – 3/3 – Picked Mikaela Shaw
MISS RHODE ISLAND – 2/5 – Picked Alexandra Curtis
Just fyi – For those states with less than 5 names, it’s because these states had a smaller number of contestants and are therefore, not allowed to announce a complete Top 5.
In summary – Junkies end the month of May going 6 for 6 – Which is the best we’ve EVER begun state pageant season!!! WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!
However, I’m afraid 6 for 6 is just a teeny-tiny sequin in the midst of a fully-beaded evening gown, when it comes to state pageant predictions… It’s a great start – but there’s a WHOLE LOT MORE TO GO in order to have an accurate appreciation of this piece of art!
So Stick around… We promise, the best is yet to come!
OH! And don’t forget – If we say your name, we hope you prove us right! And if we don’t say your name, WE HOPE YOU PROVE US WRONG!!!
