The conversation around bullying has changed a lot over the past few years… Thanks in part to people like Randi Sundquist, Miss Nevada 2012. In middle school, Randi was verbally bullied for several years before everything escalated into a full-fledged fight. Today, she tells us her story and how she was finally able to “move on” after wondering “why me” for so many years… All on today’s Pageant Junkies Podcast.

Junkies Predict Miss Arkansas 2015
Even though Junkies try not to play favorites, Ashton Campbell makes it super hard to follow those rules…
Ashton is from a teeny-tiny town called Hindesville, Arkansas. There’s one stop sign and a population of only 75 people. And even though she grew up in a small town, Ashton discovered it didn’t mean she couldn’t dream big dreams. So, in small-town, big-girl fashion, Ashton decided to attend the largest university in the state and that she wanted to be Miss America one day.
Her first dream came true, thanks to the nearly $50,000 in scholarships she won through being named Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen and Miss Arkansas. And, she was sooooooo close to achieving her second dream – finishing as the 2nd Runner Up to Miss America in Atlantic City.
And while she may have fallen short of her original goal, Ashton has not spent any time wallowing! She was extremely busy this year as Miss Arkansas, all over social media, and in our opinion, Ashton has set a new standard for titleholders in her state.
In fact, while we were preparing to write this post, we listened to Ashton’s original podcast and we fell in love with her all over again (You can listen to it for yourself at this link).
Told you it’s hard not to play favorites… Ashton’s just the kind of person others are drawn to. And fair warning – We’re guessing she’ll be a favorite of ours for years and years to come! 🙂

#062: Bree Boyce, Miss South Carolina 2011
Today, Bree Boyce is known as “that pageant queen” who lost 112 pounds on her way to Miss America. But what’s not well-known, is that Bree also suffered from anorexia during her year as Miss South Carolina 2011. How did she go from obese to anorexic? And how did her life turn into a media-frenzy, literally overnight? Those answers and much more regarding Bree’s full story, can all be heard on today’s Pageant Junkies Podcast.
Junkies Predict Miss Puerto Rico 2015
Yarelis Salgado has been a lovely titleholder as Miss Puerto Rico, 2014.
Yarelis calls herself a “bookworm”… So much so, that she continued her studies as a Human Biology major while serving as Miss Puerto Rico. Her goal is to attend medical school and become an oncologist.
Her platform goes right along with her career ambitions… During her year, Yarelis advocated for children with cancer, calling her platform, “Give a Smile to a Child with Cancer” – And what a BEAUTIFUL smile she has to give!
In regards to her platform, Yarelis says, “As a future medical student, I understand the complications of cancer and have spent countless hours as a volunteer for various organizations, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Puerto Rico. I have spent time sharing, caring and comforting phenomenal children and their parents; as well as created, developed and participated in toy drives, marathons and fundraisers.”
Congratulations Yarelis on being a wonderful representative of Puerto Rico! Junkies hope you reach each and every one of your career ambitions and that you change the lives of many children in the process!
