This year’s “Best Contestant Name” winner belongs to Miss Montana 2014, Victoria Valentine.

Honestly – if you never met the girl and only knew her by name, you’d easily assume she was either a total “Sweetheart” of a girl – or that she’s a pageant winner by day, super-hero by night (Victoria Valentine – To The Rescue!).  Awesome name. 🙂

But it’s not just her name that’s been awesome this year… Victoria has been an awesome representative for her state as well.  She’s traveled to numerous schools, promoting her platform “Read it and Reap,” criss-crossing her crazy-huge state, every single chance she could!

In addition, Victoria was invited by the Senior Producer to audition for Season 10 of America’s Got Talent earlier this year.  She threw her harp in the car (gently of course), drove to Boise, ID and played 3 different times for 3 separate groups of judges.  She played a mash-up of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and Bruno Mars’ “Count on Me” – (which has Junkies swooning just at the thought).  And even though she wasn’t chosen for the show, there’s absolutely no reason to believe Victoria “doesn’t have talent”… It’s just that America – won’t get to see it.  #Boo

Everyone who meets Jacky, falls in love with her.

Seriously.

The girl has been named Miss Congeniality not once, not twice, but three different times!  That’s almost unheard of in this day and age!

But for Jacky – it’s almost as if ‘being congenial’ is just part of who she is in every day life.  She sincerely cares about people around her… She lets them talk… And she is an amazing listener – which is what makes her such a great friend.  We couldn’t believe how many ladies brought up her name during our podcasts until we hosted a podcast with Jacky herself.  Then – we were hooked on her too (you can hear it for yourself at this link).

Jacky is one of those ladies who’ll go on to do incredible things with her life – and whatever path she takes – success is waiting for her.  I imagine if we’re still hosting the Pageant Junkies Podcast twenty years from now, she’d be someone we’d love to interview again!  Her perspective on pageantry is refreshing – but it’s her overall outlook on life and her personal demeanor that wins people over.  As a matter of fact – it’s not even a contest.  Jacky wins each and every time. 🙂

One – The Miss America Interview DVD.  Her interview is quite natural, she’s very open and genuine, and the time flies by!  You’ll never believe the judges had her for 10 minutes!

Two – The Pageant Junkies Podcast featuring Cierra.  Not because we’re awesome – but because CIERRA is SPECTACULAR!!!  I think her podcast was the very first one we didn’t need to edit – she’s incredibly articulate… no awkward silence between questions… completely at ease… and up for any topic you want to throw at her!  I honestly believe, between those 2 interviews – you’ll have a complete understanding of who Cierra is and what she believes (check out her podcast at this link).

WHICH IS WHAT MAKES A GREAT TITLEHOLDER!!!

If you can convey a compelling picture of who you are to complete strangers in a total of 33 minutes, you can conquer the world.

Junkies honestly think Cierra was right on the edge of making the Top 15 at Miss America… But in the grand scheme of things – it doesn’t matter.  Because Cierra never needed a crown to succeed – All she needed was determination and perseverance (which she happens to possess in droves).  Junkies love that about her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors!

Jessica Hartman grew up on a farm in Southern Colorado.  And at the age of 2, she discovered ice skating.

Fast forward several years – and you’ll see Jessica decided to attend college in Lindenwood, Missouri because they had a strong journalism program AND… A synchronized ice skating team…

Jessica already has her degree in journalism – and now, she’s working on her masters in communications.  In between her crazy schedule of appearances for Miss Missouri, she’s continued to take classes and hone her skills as a reporter, producer, director and news anchor.

And it’s been great fun to see her balance both duties on social media – plus, the girl has a natural beauty that can’t be denied.  With her rural roots, her team mentality, and her desire for higher education, we know Jessica is bound to accomplish whatever she sets her mind to doing!

And now – When it comes to predicting who’s going to win the title of Miss Missouri 2015 – this one is not easy… There are a lot of girls who look like they’re “in it to win it”… But if we’re forced to narrow it down to only 5, IT’S TOUGH!  This pageant is WIDE OPEN for the taking!  Who do we think will bring home the crown?

I wish I could’ve heard Miss Iowa 2014, Aly Olson, sing on the Miss America stage… And although I was somewhat comforted after finding this video, I still believe she would’ve been amazing to hear in Atlantic City…

Just lovely!!!

Before she was crowned Miss Iowa, Aly served as Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen, where she won the non-finalist interview award.  Shortly thereafter, she did something not many pageant girls are willing to do…

Aly stopped competing.  FOR FOUR YEARS!  Yes – For four years, Aly never entered a single local or went into a different system.  Instead, she spent her time volunteering within the Miss Iowa Organization anywhere she could!  Backstage, emceeing, entertaining on stage with her talent, etc.  During that time, she was able to sit back and watch.  She observed how contestants performed on stage, in mock interviews, what they did with their styling, their posture, etc.  In short, she may have not directly participated in a pageant for four years, but she was never, ever simply “on the sidelines”.

It’s as if she was the under-study for everyone she saw.  She learned as much as she could from their successes AND their failures.  Sure – she certainly could’ve learned some of those lessons on her own by directly competing – But I think there’s something very wise to her approach.  You can hear Aly’s rational and reasons behind her decision, by listening to her amazing podcast at this link…
