Ciera Pekarcik, Miss Utah 2013

As a survivor of child sexual abuse, Miss Utah 2013, Ciera Pekarcik was told to “be quiet” on more than one occasion.  But she wouldn’t.  Thankfully, Ciera’s voice gave way to the creation of her platform issue – Child Sexual Abuse; Recognition and Recovery – and an incredible amount of significant, long-term impact in the state of Utah took place.  What’s also quite interesting, is that Ciera actually lost her final chance at becoming Miss Utah, before fate intervened…
