I’m SO EXCITED to tell you about Pageant Junkies University!!!
First off, you should know that PJU (as I like to call it) is an online tool that YOU helped create! Here’s how it all went down…
So… Here I am… Just me and my silly laptop… Having a lovely time blissfully doing my little predictions thing… When I start getting all these emails and facebook messages and tweets, all asking the same thing…
“HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE GIRLS WHO MAKE YOUR PREDICTIONS LISTS?”
We made a video to answer that question… Feel free to watch it here if you haven’t already…
Otherwise, to be honest, it’s a little hard to explain – but here goes…
Before you officially make my prediction list, I go through a process that begins with me looking into your pageant brand. I search for blogs you’ve written, photos of you online, videos of you speaking or of your talent; anything I can find that will tell me more about the kind of person you are and whether or not you’re capable of winning a state title – strictly from what I see online.
Am I always right? Nope. But this year, 75% of the ladies who made my prediction list went on to win their state title. So, even though I’m not always right – it turns out I CAN accurately predict who’s going to win their state title (3 out of 4 times), based solely on their online Pageant Brand alone.
Which then caused people to ask me a different question…
“IF I WORK ON MY PAGEANT BRAND, WILL I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING A STATE TITLE?”
That answer, is a whole-hearted, enthusiastic, YES!!!
If you work on your pageant brand, it will ABSOLUTELY increase your chances of winning your state title… Why? Because you will be doing the work that prepares you to BE a state title holder!
So, inevitably, the next question is…
“WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO IMPROVE/CHANGE/UPDATE MY PAGEANT BRAND?”
And that, my fellow Junkies, is what leads us to Pageant Junkies University!
At Pageant Junkies University, we’re going to teach you how to focus your personal Pageant Brand so that you’re one step closer to winning your next title. And right now, we have a few different resources available for you:

Hey Junkies! I am curious how the preliminary judging scores move forward if the contestants make it into the finals?? Are the scores dropped? Do their preliminary scores become a percentage of their final scores?? Also, I think I read somewhere that they are no longer doing the ranking at the end by the judges but rather basing it solely on scores? I’m just curious how that all works! Love you site! Quickly becoming a fellow junkie!!

Hey There! Great Questions! Yes – There is NO FINAL BALLOT this year… Which means, whoever has the most points automatically wins (which is different than in years past). Also, the judges are given a list of the Top 15, and they give each young lady a “score” between 1-10. That score is based on their “overall impression” of the woman’s ability to do the job of Miss America according to what she displayed on the stage. THAT SCORE (1-10) is the contestant’s “composite” score. The composite score is worth 25% of their total score for Sunday night… the remaining 75% is what will be judged on Sunday by the final celebrity panel. SO DETAILED – HOPE THAT HELPS!!! 🙂 Always grateful to hear from new junkies like you!!! 🙂

I appreciate the detailed reply! I have plunged headfirst in the pageant junkie lifestyle this past year as my sister started to compete in the MA system. SO MUCH FUN!
Side Note: Personally not a fan of the two panel system. I feel it takes away from the mission and integrity of the MA system. I’m glad part of their preliminary score moves forward since those judges actually met and got to know the girls, but I don’t think it makes sense that the celebrity judges scores have so much weight and the first thing they judge the girls on is lifestyle and fitness…to me it seems based more on appearance in the end rather than who the women really are.
